Maybe I’m Not A Poop, Maybe I’m A Potato

When I saw this picture I just HAD to write a blog about it- It made me laugh and it gets the point across perfectly!

So what do you see when you look in the mirror?  I guess what I really mean is what kind of feeling do you get when you look at yourself or envision who you believe you are?  Do you see a poop or a potato?  Self-doubt and self-worth is a tricky thing peeps, but it’s CRUCIAL, so let’s talk!

If you have a little voice inside your head talking smack about you all the time and calling you a piece of poop, well that is just no way to live my friends!  How you truly feel about yourself effects every single relationship you have, every task you complete, every goal you set for yourself, everything!  You have to take it seriously and start treating yourself with respect, believing you are capable of absolutely anything, and speaking to yourself like you would a friend.  A friend of mine once told me that a good test of how you truly feel about yourself is to try to look at yourself in the mirror, looking in your own eyes, for one whole minute.  It’s really interesting, you should try it.  If you really like who you are it’s pretty easy and you feel good… but if you don’t truly believe good things about yourself that will be one awkward minute.  Let’s say that you can look at yourself in the mirror and you really like what you see- that is AWESOME and if that’s the truth I hope that you will take that feeling and use it to build other people up because one thing I know for sure, we need a lot more happy, confident people in the world!

In my opinion the quickest and most effective way to improve your self image is to serve other people and work on building your character.  How do you do that?  Just start working towards being the kind of friend that you would want to have, and begin to act like the person you wish you were, try putting someone else’s needs before your wants… I could go on and on, but you get the idea.  Those small actions will allow you to take the focus off of yourself and you will start to feel really good about being YOU 🙂  Have you ever heard that saying “Fake It Till You Make It”?  Well that applies here big time and I think it’s really easy for us to miss that part!  It’s easy to think “well I don’t WANT to put that persons wants before my own so I must just be a piece of poop” – NOT TRUE.  You have to realize that people with the greatest integrity, character, and highest self-worth  DO WHAT THEY KNOW IS RIGHT WHEN NOONE IS LOOKING… it doesn’t mean they WANT to necessarily, just that they DO IT regardless.  It’s the same idea as eating healthy and exercising- to get your body to a certain place you have to eat healthy and exercise even when you don’t feel like it… but you do it because you know it’s best, that the hard work pays off, and before you know it it’s a healthy habit, you feel amazing, and you can see the person you were underneath the whole time!

Also, take NOTICE when you start talking smack about yourself and tell that voice to shut it!  You have a CHOICE to believe every thought that comes into your head ya know 😉 Talk to yourself the way you would a friend or a child… not making excuses, but encouraging strength and bringing out the very best.

I’ve heard people say “well that’s just not who I am and I’m not going to pretend to be someone I’m not” – whatever.  As far as I’m concerned that is a cop out!  If you don’t even try and start acting like the person you want to be how will you ever get there?!  If you don’t start acting like a potato you will always feel more like a poop!
